Start your journey with an early morning departure from Kigali (around 5 AM), where you will meet your guide and begin the 2.5-hour drive to Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival at the park headquarters in Kinigi, attend a briefing session, where you’ll be assigned a gorilla family to track and learn the trekking guidelines.

Equipped with rain gear, sturdy walking shoes, insect repellent, sunscreen, a hat, a packed lunch, and bottled water, embark on your gorilla trekking adventure deep in the Virunga Massif. The trek can last anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. After an early breakfast, set out for the Dian Fossey Hike, a journey to the Karisoke Research Center, where the legendary primatologist Dian Fossey conducted groundbreaking research on mountain gorillas. Learn about her pioneering conservation efforts, visit her tomb, and see the resting place of Silverback Digit, one of her most beloved gorillas. This 4-hour hike offers both historical insights and breathtaking views of the Volcanoes National Park landscape.

After the trek, begin your return journey to Kigali, passing through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your gorilla trekking adventure.
